The Tour de France 2026 promises a spectacular journey through some of Europe’s most iconic cycling terrain — and for the first time ever, Corrèze will feature a 100 % wholly Corrèze stage, shining a global spotlight on our stunning landscapes and cycling culture.
On Sunday 12 July 2026, the race will roll from Malemort to Ussel, offering both a competitive battleground for professional riders and an unmissable spectacle for visitors and cycling enthusiasts alike. The stage favours baroudeurs and opportunists rather than pure sprinters or GC contenders. With nearly 3 300 m of climbing, rolling hills and a mix of short, punchy ascents, riders will need grit and strategy to make an impact, so we will be watching out for exciting breakaways..
This is Corrèze’s first ever one-county Tour stage — a truly historic moment for the department. What makes this stage special? It’s not just the terrain — it’s the scenic route through some of France’s most beautiful villages, including Turenne and Collonges-la-Rouge, which will bring international attention to Corrèze’s rural charm. There will be multiple climbs: Côte de Naves, Suc au May, Côte de la Croix du Pey, and Mont Bessou — the latter near 1 000 m altitude and a key launch point for attacks. the final approach to Ussel is slightly descending rolling terrain that could set up a dramatic solo win or a late group sprint.
Corrèze’s inclusion on the Tour route is a unique opportunity to promote the region’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and cycling-friendly roads. The route winds through green valleys, stone villages and forested plateaus — all captivating backdrops broadcasted to a global audience. This combination of heritage, scenic roads, and racing drama will make this one of the most engaging stages for both riders and spectators
Villages and towns along the route are planning a warm welcome with markets, music, food stalls, and fan zones — turning the race day into a festival of cycling and community. For visitors, it’s the perfect chance to combine a holiday exploring Limousin culture with world-class sport — and at Corrèze Cycling Holidays we’re already gearing up to help you make the most of this experience and can help craft the perfect cycling holiday. Don’t just watch the Tour… come and live it with us!
